For the official WhatsApp Business API, Meta verifies your business as a legal entity. That sounds daunting, but it's quite doable — provided you submit everything consistently.
Which documents?
- A business document that confirms your legal name: extract from the trade register (KvK), VAT registration or licence
- A domain you own, with a website showing your legal name
- An e-mail address on that same domain (e.g. info@yourbusiness.co.uk)
Main pitfall — everything must match. The name, address and telephone number in your Business information must match your document exactly, and your e-mail must be from the same domain as the website in that document. Don't mix different company or brand names — inconsistency is the number 1 reason for rejection.
Do I need a passport?
No. A normal business verification requires company documents, not a personal passport. Provide a clear, legible and complete document (JPG, PNG or PDF) — not a small or blurry image, as that will be rejected.
How long does it take?
Usually a few days to around two weeks. Therefore, start the verification as early as possible; you can already prepare many other steps in the meantime. You will receive the verification code via e-mail (@your domain), SMS/phone or WhatsApp.
