Connect with your own Facebook account
You log in via Facebook Business and grant permission for your number. Slimbot does not receive your password; the integration runs via the official authentication flow.
The WhatsApp Business API is the official way to use WhatsApp as a business without everything going through one phone. Multiple team members, a chatbot and outbound messages via approved templates. In Slimbot, you connect the API to the same team inbox as your e-mail and social, without a separate console.

Features that Slimbot has today. No promises we don't keep.

Create message templates in Slimbot, submit them for approval and see for each template whether it is approved, pending or rejected.
Free text is only allowed within 24 hours of the customer's last message. Outside that window, Slimbot prompts you to use a template, rather than a message getting stuck.
For each connected number, Slimbot shows the quality rating and message limit that WhatsApp assigns to your number.
API conversations arrive alongside e-mail, Instagram, Messenger and website chat. Conversations get a status (open, waiting, completed) and an owner.
The assistant answers from your knowledge base and the pages of your website. You choose per conversation: off, suggestions only, or let it answer. A team member can always take over.
Send one message to multiple contacts at once from a chosen WhatsApp line, or work with campaigns with CSV import and status per message.
Departments or branches each with their own line. Quick replies and settings apply per number.
WhatsApp has three flavours for businesses. The regular WhatsApp Business app is free and works on one phone, with at most a few linked devices. The WhatsApp Business API (nowadays the Cloud API) is the official connection for software: messages no longer go via a phone, but directly between WhatsApp and the system your team works in.
That makes things possible that don't work with the app: multiple team members simultaneously on one number, a chatbot that answers day and night, outbound messages to customers who previously gave you permission, and integrations with other software. The API has no screen itself. You always need software that displays the conversations. With Slimbot, that's the team inbox.
Not every business needs the API straight away. If you mainly answer questions that customers send themselves, a connection via the WhatsApp Business app (with a QR code) is often enough. That route is included in the lower Slimbot plans and can be switched later.
The API becomes interesting if:
The main rule of the API: if a customer sends you a message, you may reply freely within 24 hours. After that, or if you start a conversation yourself, you use a pre-approved template. Think of "Your appointment is tomorrow at 10:00, is that still correct?".
In Slimbot you create those templates yourself and submit them for review. You see the status per template. If someone tries to send free text outside the window in the inbox, Slimbot alerts you and points to a template. More explanation is in our article about the 24-hour window.
There are two cost items. The first is the software: the Cloud API is included in Slimbot's Business plan, which is on request. The second is WhatsApp's own message costs. WhatsApp charges for outgoing template messages. Replies within 24 hours to a customer who sent you a message cost nothing on WhatsApp.
For the lower plans and the current amounts we refer to the pricing page. It only shows amounts from our live price list. A detailed explanation of the message rates can be found in the knowledge base.
You choose what suits you: a new business number, transferring your current number to the official WhatsApp integration, or connecting your existing WhatsApp Business app via QR code as an interim step. The green tick and the review of your display name run via WhatsApp itself; we guide the integration, but cannot promise a tick.

Using WhatsApp for business can be done in two ways: the Business app or the API. The app is free and for small businesses. The API is for teams and integrations. The API is for businesses with multiple team members. You connect it to a system, such as an inbox or a chatbot. For the API you pay per message, and you need a partner or developer. Messaging with one or two people? Then the app is enough. Want more? Then look at the API. Need help? Call or message IT Live.
