Calling in the browser
No separate desktop client required. Headset to the laptop and you call from Slimbot.
Cloud telephony, also called hosted telephony, means your telephone exchange is no longer on-site but runs online. You call via the internet with a laptop, mobile or handset, and manage numbers, menu options and call forwarding in a web environment. In Slimbot that environment is in the same account as your team inbox.
CallerCan you come round this week for a leak?

With traditional business telephony, there's a telephone exchange at the office, with handsets connected to it via cables. With cloud telephony, that exchange runs at a provider on the internet. Your handsets, or simply your laptop and mobile, connect via the internet. Settings such as a menu or call forwarding you adjust in a web environment, without an engineer.
Hosted telephony, hosted VoIP and cloud telephony are different names for the same thing. The difference from 'just VoIP' is mainly that the exchange itself is also in the cloud, not just the connection.
Slimbot combines cloud telephony with the rest of your customer contact. The phone is in the same account as the shared inbox for WhatsApp, e-mail and website chat, and you see the summary of the last conversation with a customer in their timeline. All features, numbers and what the telephony does not do are on the business telephony page.
