Docker Compose
Starting multiple components together, sorted in one go.
What is Docker Compose?
Docker Compose lets you set up and manage an application consisting of multiple components — for example a website, a database and a background task — as one whole. Instead of starting each piece separately, everything starts in the right order with one definition. That saves errors and makes your setup clear.
How does it work?
- You describe which components belong together, or you supply your existing Compose setup.
- In the dashboard you check the interconnections, ports and storage.
- Slimbot starts the entire setup in the correct order and connects the components.
- You make changes or additions centrally, after which everything restarts neatly.
Use cases
Benefits
- All components start in the right order, without manual puzzling.
- One overview for an application that actually consists of multiple parts.
- Easy to copy to a second environment for testing or demo.
- Less error-prone than switching on each component separately.
Frequently asked questions
What's the difference from a standalone container?
A single container is one component. With Compose you manage multiple related components as one whole, including their interconnections.
Can I bring my existing setup?
Yes. If you already have a Compose definition, we take it over and get it running on our Dutch infrastructure.
What if one component fails?
Slimbot monitors the components and automatically restarts any failed part, so the whole keeps running.
